A-04 Acute Sports-Related Concussion Associations Between Cognitive Symptoms, Memory Performance, and Default Mode Network Hub Connectivity

چکیده
Abstract Purpose: Disruptions in cognitive performance are commonly reported after a sports-related concussion (SRC) and may be related to brain network changes, particularly within the default mode (DMN). Since well-connected regions across networks (hubs) play an important role organization, we hypothesize that DMN hubs will disrupted SRC associated with symptoms performance. Methods: We collected resting-state fMRI, symptoms, data from 44 student-athletes at baseline, SRC, recovery. Participation coefficient defined for each athlete. compared changes functional connectivity between non-hubs remaining networks. used linear regression examine relationship connectivity, while controlling history. Results: Functional increased baseline post-injury decreased recovery, but not levels. Post-injury was visual memory cingulo-opercular, salience, somatomotor, post-injury. Cognitive were non-hubs. Conclusions: Self-reported hub connectivity. This suggest decrease efficiency provide insight into compensation during task

Deficits in episodic memory retrieval reveal impaired default mode network connectivity in amnestic mild cognitive impairment
Amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) is believed to represent a transitional stage between normal healthy ageing and the development of dementia. In particular, aMCI patients have been shown to have higher annual transition rates to Alzheimer's Disease (AD) than individuals without cognitive impairment. Despite intensifying interest investigating the neuroanatomical basis of this transitio...
متن کاملA potential biomarker in sports-related concussion: brain functional connectivity alteration of the default-mode network measured with longitudinal resting-state fMRI over thirty days.
Current diagnosis and monitoring of sports-related concussion rely on clinical signs and symptoms, and balance, vestibular, and neuropsychological examinations. Conventional brain imaging often does not reveal abnormalities. We sought to assess if the longitudinal change of functional and structural connectivity of the default-mode network (DMN) can serve as a potential biomarker. Eight concuss...
متن کاملResting state connectivity between default mode network and insula encodes acute migraine headache.
Background Previous functional MRI studies have revealed that ongoing clinical pain in different chronic pain syndromes is directly correlated to the connectivity strength of the resting default mode network (DMN) with the insula. Here, we investigated seed-based resting state DMN-insula connectivity during acute migraine headaches. Methods Thirteen migraine without aura patients (MI) underwent...
متن کاملDefault Mode Network Connectivity in Stroke Patients
The pathophysiology of episodic memory dysfunction after infarction is not completely understood. It has been suggested that infarctions located anywhere in the brain can induce widespread effects causing disruption of functional networks of the cortical regions. The default mode network, which includes the medial temporal lobe, is a functional network that is associated with episodic memory pr...

Methods: Twenty-eight MCI patients (14 males, age1⁄46767yrs, clinical dementia rating score1⁄40.5) and 30 ageand education-matched cognitively normal adults (14 males, age1⁄46767yrs) participated. The carotid arterial (b) stiffness index and the intima-media thickness (IMT) were measured using high resolution 2D Doppler ultrasonography and applanation tonometry in the left and right comm...
